Skellys Amusements is very proud of its
ride safety program. A person trained and
certified as a Level II inspector by the National Association of Amusement Ride Safety
Officials (NAARSO) supervises it. The program includes operator training, ride inspection
and maintenance.
Our program
requires that the operators must be trained to operate the
ride based on the manufacturers requirements. They
must know the limitations on who may ride the ride. They
must know how to do the daily operational checks and they must demonstrate the use of all
operating controls. Our program
requires that all training must be performed by an employee with a minimum of 3 years of
operating experience.
Each day, before a ride opens to the public, it must be thoroughly inspected as per the
manufacturers requirements. The inspection is
documented on a form designed specifically for each individual ride. The operators
daily inspection is also supplemented by our quality control inspection. The QC team consists of people
employed by us a minimum of 4 years. They have attended NAARSO recognized safety seminars
and have passed the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Level II certification exam. The QC team is also responsible for
holding our weekly staff safety meetings.
During the season, our ride operators perform all of the
required daily maintenance. We teach it as
part of their training. More detailed
weekly and monthly maintenance requirements are the responsibility of our QC
team. At the end of the season, each ride
undergoes an annual examination at our workshop in Williamstown, New Jersey. Once complete, the ride is then stored indoors
through the winter.
Below is a list of general Midway Safety rules that we strongly recommend on our
